Advent Season

A Season of Small Things.

This Advent consider the smallness of Jesus’ first arrival.  He came into the world quietly, softly—in a small way.

Small is out. In a world where the good and true is determined by the relative size and influence of a person or place or group, it’s good to highlight the utter smallness by which Jesus Christ entered the world to take ownership of it.

So we’ll take a month to recalibrate our expectations in anticipation of one small baby. It’s a season of small things. At issue is whether or not we’ve understood the importance of these small things and changed our lives to follow Him.

In her book One Thousand Gifts, Ann Voskamp writes, “Do not disdain the small. The whole of life-even the hard-is made up of the minute parts, and if I miss the infinitesimals, I miss the whole. These are new language lessons, and I live them out. There is a way to live the big of giving thanks in all things. It is this: to give thanks in this one small thing. The moments will add up.”
